The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce coordinates the most effective regional citizen lobbying event at the State Capitol, which attracts over 500 people from Northeastern Minnesota.

Throughout the day, Duluthians and Northeastern Minnesotans meet face-to-face with legislators from all over Minnesota. The same evening, legislators and their staff join the contingency at an informal reception designed to promote continual dialogue. As a result of this event, lawmakers at the Capitol hear about our region's legislative initiatives directly from voters.

 

With the release of the Governor's budget proposal for the State of Minnesota, many questions have arisen. Change is necessary, but how are these changes impacting business? Hear from Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton at the Duluth & St. Louis County at the Capitol Legislative Breakfast to gain a better understanding of each piece included in the proposed budget. Other presenters include: Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon, MN Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, MN Senator Roger Reinert, and Duluth Mayor Don Ness.

2012 Duluth & St. Louis County at the Capitol: In case you missed it

Crowds brave the blizzard to attend Duluth & St. Louis County at the Capitol


The Crown Plaza Ballroom was buzzing with residents of Northeasten Minnesota who braved the blizzard the day before to attend the Legislative Breakfast offered as part of the Duluth & St. Louis County at the Capitol event. The evening before, hundreds were in attendance at Crowne Plaza for the Grand Reception, where we hosted state representatives and senators who are participating in the 2012  legislative session.

Governor Mark Dayton provided the keynote address at the breakfast. While acknowledging the significant challenges ahead, he laid out a bold agenda focused on jobs and economic development. Presentations were also given by other elected officials. The breakfast was the capstone of a two-day Capitol lobbying initiative orchestrated by the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce.

This was the 15th annual campaign at the Capitol hosted by Duluth and St. Louis County and it has truly become a high profile community gathering. Planning is in the works for next year's event, so please join us.
